The NWT has been divided into Management Zones and Areas for the purpose of conserving and managing wildlife in the NWT. The larger zone boundaries are named and may be subdivided into smaller areas to meet specific management requirements. These boundaries are updated as required for wildlife management purposes. The metes and bounds descriptions and corresponding boundaries in the respective Regulations have been updated to be in compliance with the 2014 update to the Wildlife Act and to fulfil a commitment to comply with metes and bounds descriptions in paramount legislation from Canada and the settled land claim areas in the NWT.
These boundaries have been described under the 2014 Wildlife Act in the following regulations: Wildlife Management Zones and Areas Regulations, Gwich'in Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement, and Sahtu Dene and Metis Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement. |
