Thelon Game sanctuary has known inaccuracies. When better data is available from credible data sources they will be updated.Note 2 - Dataset does not include spatial boundaries in the NWT for: Marine protected areas, Mackenzie Bison Game Sanctuary, and Nagwichoonjik Historic Site. These areas don’t meet the IUCN criteria for a protected area according to national and international guidelines and do not have sufficient surface or subsurface protection. Note 3 – The Status Network field divides protected areas from conservation areas. Note 4 – This feature class excludes ‘Conservation Zones’ embedded in approved Land Use Plans (LUP) please use:’PLC_SLUPB_APP_SahtuLandUsePlan’; ‘PLC_TG_APP_TlichoLandUsePlan’; ‘PLC_GLUPB_DRF_GwichinLandUsePlan_X’ in the Enterprise Spatial Data Platform for Conservation and Heritage Conservation Zones.Note 5 – ‘PLC_NWTCG_ConservationAreas_X’ this is a NWTCG feature class file constructed for the Mining Recorders Office (MRO) in the Mineral Tenure Viewer, so conservation parcels have a different definition in terms of land protection from development versus ecological integrity. Jan, 2018-Update to Naatsihchoh based on a shapefile from Parks CanadaApril, 2018-Update to Territorial Parks to more accurately match metes and bounds descriptions. The coordinates were transformed from NAD27 to NAD83 datum. The boundary for Hidden Lake Territorial Park was copied from Commissioners Land Administration ATLAS dataset.July2019 - New commissioners order field addedSept.2019 – Added Thaidene Nene Protected Areas (Parts I-III). Source of data was NRCan and has some adjustments from withdrawal version used in the candidate PA sde file. Oct. 2019 - Conservation Planning ENR request addition of Thaidene Nene NPR area, because federal land transfer was complete. Thaidene Nene National Park Reserve was transferred into Established Feature class SDE, from candidate feature classA Parks Canada official version was provided following the legal description. The remaining withdrawn excluded areas were migrated as well - since CP thought they belonged with the other TND park/PA areas. The latter were modifiued to align with the official extents as per CP’s instructions. (Note – exclusions have no protection status excepting the interim withdrawal protection). Small updates of attributes and several domains were applied to various fields in order to facilitate consistent data entry.
